Outdoor First Aid - Blended Learning
A comprehensive First Aid course designed for people who work, lead trips or recreation outdoors where they may be more distant from medical assistance
Spend 8 hours completing the knowledge aspects of the course with our dedicated online learning portal then one day in the classroom practicing the physical skills
Less time away from work and easier to find one day available for the practical training
HSE & Resuscitation Council UK compliant. First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) certified training organisation & instructors/assessors.
This course is assessed through practical and written examinations to ensure trainees are competent in First Aid to achieve certification.
Outdoor First Aid is a comprehensive course for anyone who works in the outdoor environment. It is also particularly relevant for anyone who leads trips outdoors or goes hiking in the UK. The training assumes that you may be more time-distant from medical assistance and therefore need to manage a casualty for longer than when indoors.
This Blended Learning version of the course combines 8 hours of learning, ahead of the course, using our dedicated online learning portal. Trainees can pause the training at any stage providing the course is completed prior to the practical teaching in the classroom. After successful completion of the online course trainees attend one day of In-Person training to learn and practice the practical aspects of the course.
As well as a strong focus on Life-Saving techniques this course covers how to protect a casualty from the elements for an extended period of time and includes extra practical training in physical injuries, including the use of splints for breaks, dislocations and soft tissue injuries.
All our trainees are sent a confidential ILP (Individual Learning Plan) document to complete so we can understand and compensate for any physical or learning difficulties that may impact their experience with us. We are keen to ensure that every trainee can achieve their full potential and not be disadvantaged in any way.
All our courses are fully assessed so that trainees can be certified as First Aiders.
Assessments are carried out through both practical and written examination.
Trainees' knowledge is assessed through the online training portal. Self-checks follow each section of the course and a final multiple-choice assessment concludes the online module. Learners are required to achieve a score of 100% on each self-check before they can progress to the next section. The final multiple-choice assessment has a pass mark of 80%. Learners have a maximum of 3 attempts to pass.
Practical skills are assessed continually throughout the In-Person training day and should a trainee fail to correctly demonstrate their skills they are reminded of the correct procedure and allowed to try again until they have achieved the required standard.
